Wonders of Banaue
Leo May 06, 2017 0
Banaue is a 4th class municipality in the province of Ifugao, Philippines and has a population of 20,000+ people. Banaue is mainly visited for its stunning rice terraces named Banaue Rice Terraces which referred to as the "Eighth Wonder of the World".
We started our breathtaking tour in Banaue Arch. We arrived at 5:00 am in the morning, the temperature is so high, we felt cold and you need a hug or to wear a jacket to maintain your body temperature.
After the picture taking on the arch, we take our breakfast to fulfill our hungriness, and ready ourselves for a three day and two nights tour with other tourists which we never know. It is nice to meet new friends, from strangers to travel buddies, a new circle of friends. Even we not known each other yet, I am glad and happy that our decision is in favor for all, no worries, less hassle, stress-free.

BANAUE RICE TERRACES
An iconic and ancient landscape of the Philippines that is said to be the greatest engineering masterpiece of the indigenous people in Ifugao: the Igorots. These mountains are the house of 2000-year-old rice terraces, which are referred to as the eighth wonder of the world. Two of the terrace clusters in Banaue namely Bangaan and Batad, are part of the UNESCO World Heritage site.
I’ve often heard that said about Banaue’s famed rice terraces. For years now, people have noted that the terraces are deteriorating, that they aren’t as well-maintained as they should be. Though still a spectacular sight for first-timers, many feel that they aren’t as beautiful as they once were, a shame considering these magnificent rice terraces have been around for over two thousand years. Carved out of the mountain by hand, it’s absolutely mind-boggling to think how the Ifugao people created these using only the most basic of tools.
